6. additional information about the yacht
The Xc 45 was the first model in the Xcruising range to be launched and was voted 'Europe's Yacht of the Year' in 2009. She is renowned for her outstanding combination of ride comfort, performance under sail and responsive handling. The Xc 45 features X-Yachts' proprietary steel hull/keel beam for strength and resistance to grounding. The deck and sail layout has been designed for ease of handling when sailing in pairs.
Designers Comment:
"One of the main differences between the Xperformance and Xcruising ranges is the hull design. The Xc range offers greater internal volume for tanks and other essential equipment with its deeper hull sections. Deeper V-shaped hull sections provide smooth and comfortable movement in waves. The large fuel and fresh water tanks and heavy batteries are strategically placed low and centrally in the yacht
for excellent weight distribution. It also allows the Xc 45 to claim perhaps the most important and notable X-Yachts quality feature, the galvanised steel hull keel support frame. X-Yachts introduced this design feature as early as 1981 and is your
guarantee that the keel is attached in the safest way possible. Lowering the centre of gravity optimises stability and allows for a well-proportioned sail plan.
The composite lead and cast iron keel is encased in a reinforced epoxy e-glass mat for a perfect keel and to prevent corrosion. Flush-mounted hull fittings and a folding propeller reduce drag and ensure the Xc 45 can make the most of any situation."
